DESIRE AND DANGER
DESIRE AND DANGER is one of William Farquhar collections. The theme of this exhibition is natural drawing. Most of the drawings are animals and plants. This exhibition has been held at the Goh Seng Choo Gallery. Moreover, William Farquhar tries to combine between men and nature in his artworks.
These are how the gallery's interior. Goh Seng Choo Gallery is the gallery which shows the William Farquhar drawings which are using manual way, such as, watercolor on paper.
Every wall there are some William Farquhar's artworks which are explored by animals, plants, nature and men. From all the artworks, I prefer to th drawings itself, rather than all the things in the display.
The drawings are very nice and realistic in illustration way. It's not too detail and complicated as the Story of the Forest "Glass Rotunda", but it's more simple and clear.
I can see the difference between William Farquhar digital illustration and manual illustration which are very different. He has success to apply the nature into his drawing and into the digital way. Both of this way to do illustrations really can help him to show how the style of his artworks.
These are some examples of William Farquhar drawings which are using watercolor on paper. There is no too much design or art in one of paper. It just focus on one object which can also show what it is about. That's why I like this drawing. It is because it can tell more about nature by one illustration.
Although he used watercolor, the colors are very contrast and suitable with the paper itself. It's not messy, but it's a clean illustration which can aso attract people attention.
